The Great Roman Empire
Chapter 9
We will be studying ancient Rome for the next two weeks. Students will be reading about the geography, Roman government and its leaders, the arts and the effects religion on the Roman society. We will be doing various assignments including a lesson on the use of a flow chart and mapping skills. Our assessment for this chapter will be the creation of a poster showing comprehension of the material presented. Students will need to provide their own poster board (available at the dollar store, as well as many other places) by Wednesday 1/25/12. I have markers, glue, scissors, and colored pencils for students to use.  We will have time in class on 1/26 & 1/27 to work on posters, and they will be due Monday 1/30 at the start of class.
The required elements for the posters include:
1 paragraph summary of each lesson (there are 4 lessons total)
4-8 pictures representing the material covered in the chapter
1 map of Ancient Rome
A bibliography citing 3 sources of information, one being the text book and an additional 2 sources are required

Grading will be based on the inclusion of each element and the overall presentation (neatness) of the poster. Pictures may be hand drawn or come from the internet. Neatly drawn pictures will have the same value as internet pictures.
Grading Rubric:
