Week of 3/7 and 3/11

Our study of Rome starts this week, and will conclude next week. We will be reading and writing about this great culture. Students will be performing 2 readers theaters about ancient Rome as an enrichment to the textbook. One is about Caesar and the other about Mark Antony and Cleopatra. The test on chapter 9 will be done differently then our past tests. This one will be an essay. Students will complete the reading of the chapter 9 on 3/8 and they will then receive the assignment for their test/essay. The essay will be due on Friday 3/11. Details about the assignment will be sent on 3/8. ESSAYS WILL BE DONE 100% AT SCHOOL.

3rd Quarter projects came home this week and below you will find the details. I will accept emailed projects provided I receive them between 3/14- and 8:10 AM on 3/16. Projects that are not in my inbox by the start of the school day WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. My email is:kbettenhausen@atmschool.net

            Students are to make a brochure on ancient Greece. The brochure must include 5 pictures of important places, events, art or other areas of interest in ancient Greece, a brief (1-2 paragraphs) history of each item pictured, and a map of ancient Greece. Each picture is worth 10 points, each history is worth 25 points and the map is worth 25 points, and a 50 point bibliography with a minimum of 3 references/resources. Total project: 250 points. Projects should be typed using size 12 font. Font style is student choice but it needs to easily read.

Week of 2/21-2/25

We will be winding down our study of the Greeks this week.

Monday: Test prep as a class and personal study time on chapter 8

Tuesday: test prep and Problem solving activities

Wednesday: Test, hand out project (details to be posted on next weeks blog), and Greek Architecture

Thursday: Greek video.

Friday: Conclusion of Greek Video
FRIDAY OLYMPIC GAMES--Students need to wear running shoes!!!!!

Our lessons on the Greeks continue.

Monday: Ch. 8-3 and the telling of the myth about Cupid, a Roman god with a Greek goddess mother

Tuesday: Ch. 8-3

Wednesday: Ch 8 What democracy means. Responsible citizen and overview of government.

Thursday: Ch 8-4

Friday: Ch. 8-4

Week of 2/7-2/11

This week we begin our study of the Greeks. What better way to start than with a myth!

Monday: Test ch. 12,  Read pages 235-241, Pandora's Box, in text and answer questions 1,2,3 on page 241

Tuesday:Ancient Greece pre-test, Read pages 244-249, Ch. 8-1, complete worksheet pg. 71

Wednesday: Class discussion on ch. 8-1. Students need to be prepared to answer questions from the lesson and know vocabulary.

Thursday: Read pages 250-255, ch. 8-2, complete worksheet pg. 73
Friday: Class discussion on Ch. 8-2.

Students that are absent should complete the reading and get the worksheet upon their return. It is the STUDENT'S RESPONSIBILITY to ask for missed work.
