PROJECT UPDATES
CHANGE OF DUE DATE---DECEMBER 16TH
WOW!!! I am so excited about the project ideas that I am hearing about, and I am thrilled to see how the kids have become so engaged. We “own” our learning so much more when we discover the information ourselves. These kids are on fire, and as a teacher I could not ask for more!
My biggest dilemma on the projects has been where to display the students work. A wonderful suggestion was made -- display all of the projects in the MPR! To do this we had to have a day that did not have music in the MPR, thus the change in the due date. This will enable the projects to be reviewed by all the students (even from other grades) and parents may come by to look at the projects. We will have the projects on display all day December 16, and there will be an open house that afternoon from 3:15-4:00 for families to come by and take a look at the amazing work of the students. Projects may go home after 4:00 on the 16th and must go home on the 17th; we just don’t have the space to store them. Students that are done early may bring in their completed projects before the 16th, but not before the 13th. I have very limited storage in the classroom and I don’t want anyone’s project damaged. Otherwise projects may be delivered to the MPR before school on the 16th.
By now your student should know what they are doing and they should have started the research needed to make their project a reality. We spent time last Wednesday going over how to write a bibliography using different resources. The bibliography is very important; as a reminder no more than 2 of the 3 resources can be websites. I want the students using books, video and articles from periodicals as resources not just the computer.
If you or your child has any questions, please contact me. The next project update will be November 23, 2010. Kbettenhausen@atmschool.net
